August 14, 2009:  While on an energy tour of the state, West Virginia Congresswoman
Shelley Moore Capito visited Josh Frye at Frye Poultry to learn more about the gasification
process.  She observed the operation of the gasifier that converts chicken manure into heat
and a
biochar ash product that has proven to be even more valuable than the energy itself.
During her visit with Josh Frye, the Congresswoman learned that gasification is a viable
manure management option, especially in areas like the Chesapeake Bay Watershed where
nutrient loading of the soil has forced operators to ship the manure out of the Watershed.  It
was obvious that the Congresswoman was interested in the conversion of biomass to energy
as one of the options for increasing the uses of renewable energy resources and decreasing
dependence on foreign oil.
